In this edition of our leadership series, we spotlight Allan Moore, VP of Professional Services at CloudScale365. Allan brings decades of expertise to the company, ensuring clients receive tailored solutions that meet their unique business needs. His journey at CloudScale365 is a testament to dedication, adaptability, and a customer-first mindset.
Interviewer: Can you tell us when and how you started working at CloudScale365?
Allan: My journey with CloudScale365 began in 2020 after MCS Business Telephones & Data Systems was acquired. Our business had been a leader in the tri-state area, focusing on voice-over-IP, local and wide-area networks, and IP-based technologies for over 30 years.
Initially, I stayed on to help transition my customer base and ensure they felt comfortable after the acquisition. A few months later, I took on a large project with a school district in Eastern Pennsylvania, where I managed operational tasks for over a year. Once that was completed, I transitioned to business development at the Delaware office, working to improve internal operations and sales at CloudScale365.
Interviewer: What is your current role at CloudScale365, and what are you responsible for?
Allan: I lead the Professional Services division, which oversees the projects we win from start to finish. Professional services is the team behind the solutions. We manage implementations, project scheduling, and communication with the customer.
My team works closely with sales engineers and the technical team to design and deliver tailored solutions. We’re responsible for everything from product selection and licensing to project implementation and billing coordination. Essentially, we ensure every solution is seamless, meeting the customer’s needs efficiently.
Interviewer: Could you clarify what the term “professional services” includes in the aspect of CloudScale365?
Allan: Professional services is the managerial and technical oversight behind our solutions. For example, we handle:
- Managed services like firewalls, endpoint devices (laptops, desktops), servers, and cloud solutions. These services include proper patching, updates, and a security stack with tools like Huntress and Sentinel-1.
- Datto BCDR solutions, which provide both on-premises and cloud backup to ensure business continuity. If a server issue arises, we can spin up local or cloud-based systems to minimize downtime.
Professional services focus on customizing these solutions, ensuring they align with the customer’s operational or capital expense preferences.
Interviewer: How do you define the difference between managed and professional services?
Allan: That’s a great question. Managed services represent our products—like security tools, monitoring, and infrastructure management.
Professional services, on the other hand, are the people and processes behind those products. My team ensures that the solutions are designed, implemented, and supported according to the customer’s specific needs. We act as a bridge between the sales and technical teams, guiding the project from start to finish and maintaining clear communication with the customer.
Interviewer: What types of customers do you typically work with, and what challenges do you solve for them?
Allan: We work with customers in industries like finance, healthcare, legal practices, and education, ranging from 5 to 250 users. These businesses often face challenges in:
- Cybersecurity: Many clients hesitate to invest in robust security solutions, not realizing the risks. Our job is to provide peace of mind with proactive monitoring, advanced security tools, and resilient backup systems.
- Staffing and expertise: IT staffing is a major challenge. Many organizations can’t afford to hire and retain full-time IT specialists, so we step in as their external IT team.
Interviewer: What makes CloudScale365 stand out compared to other service providers?
Allan: It’s the strength of our technical team. They’re knowledgeable, highly trained, and adaptable to various hardware, software, and application needs. Whether it’s a hardware issue or a complex software implementation, our team delivers with precision and professionalism.
Another advantage is our scalability. We cater to businesses of different sizes, from small teams to organizations with hundreds of users. This flexibility and our consultative approach make us a trusted partner rather than just a vendor.
Interviewer: What advice would you give businesses looking to stay on top of technology trends?
Allan: One major trend is artificial intelligence (AI). While AI has been around for some time, it’s now becoming integral to streamlining workflows and enhancing productivity.
Beyond that, I recommend focusing on efficiency and cost management. Partnering with external IT providers like CloudScale365 helps businesses save time and money, especially as finding and retaining skilled IT professionals becomes harder. Outsourcing IT needs allows companies to focus on their core business while staying technologically competitive.
Interviewer: What’s one thing you wish more customers knew about working with CloudScale365?
Allan: As their IT Partner, I would like to see our customers take advantage of our expertise to Consult at all levels of technology. It is part of their services package. We’re not just here to sell services. Partnering with CloudScale365, allows the customer to engage with our team to help analyze and vet new technologies for them. If a client is considering a new solution, we’ll guide them through decision-making to ensure they make the best choice for their business.
